The skills that I've learned here make me a better teacher." - Amanda Ducharme, TCP Completer '24World Language Pathway PK-12 Certificate RequirementsIf candidate is eligible for this program, all course work can be taken online excluding the practicums.In order to be eligible for this program the candidate must:Have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institutionHold a PK-12 teaching position in one of the languages below andPass Fundamental Subjects: Content Knowledge 5511Pass State-Required Language Test (ACTFL or PRAXIS) orFor American Sign Language - need to score a 3 or higher on the American Sign Language Proficiency Interview (ASLPI). Score must then be sent to ETS to be converted to passing Praxis score of 160. Request that ETS sends to PDE. Begin the scheduling process via this . Both test results should be sent to ºìÌÒÊÓÆµ and the PA Department of Education (PDE).Upon acceptance into the program, the candidate will be required to apply for a Pennsylvania Intern Certificate through PDE. All questions, should be directed to tcp@wilson.edu.For the World Language Pathway, we offer PK-12 Pennsylvania Instructional I certification in the following languages: American Sign Language, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, and Latin.Education Course Requirements -- for all foreign language experience-based certificationsRequired courses graded "C" or above may be transferred from transcripts.Additional required courses will include those outdated and/or not previously completedState Reciprocity:ºìÌÒÊÓÆµ offers Pennsylvania Level I certification for its education programs. Pennsylvania certification is reciprocal with most of the 50 states. Generally speaking, if you hold a valid PA professional teaching license from a regionally accredited and state-approved teacher preparation program and pass the required state testing, you will be able to obtain a teaching license in another state. ºìÌÒÊÓÆµ has not made a determination of requirements for each state, so please click here for detailed requirements on all 50 states.
