Kennedy will participate in a public conversation about his process, purpose, and the evolving role of art in social change.</span><span>&nbsp;</span></p><p><span lang="EN-US"><strong>Spirit-led Dance in the New America with Ama Law of Project ChArma</strong></span><span>&nbsp;</span></p><p><span lang="EN-US">Project ChArma's movement style has always been shaped by a blend of influences: Hip-Hop culture, West African polyrhythms, and post-modern dance flow. In this dance workshop, they will explore solidarity through these forms. They will start with line dances Ƶ —literally Ƶ “jumping in Ƶ ” to learn sequences, embodying the Africanist principle of Ƶ “each one teach one. Ƶ ” They will review popular line dances, invite participants to share new ones they bring, and close by creating a unique group sequence that marks our coming together in this new space and time. They will discuss the historical significance of these dances in African American resistance, survival, and progress.</span><span>&nbsp;</span></p><p><span lang="EN-US">The Arts at Wilson created ArtsFest to showcase the remarkable art, artists, and artistic opportunities at the College. We are honored to share their powerful and thought Ƶ ‑provoking work with the Wilson community and regional audiences, Ƶ ” said Philip Lindsey, professor of fine arts.</span></p><p><span>Born in Wisconsin and raised in Milwaukee, Patterson began their formal studies at the Kansas City Art Institute, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in ceramics and art history. They continued their artistic development through programs at the Ox-Bow School of Art, Charlotte Street Foundation, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, and Berea College, among others. Patterson currently serves as a host at the John C. This series is considered the first anti-war statement in Western art.</p><p>Curated by Adam DelMarcelle, assistant professor of <a href="/art-design">graphic design</a>, the exhibition was a collaborative effort by Ƶ students during the fall 2025 semester. Students in the Western Art History 1000 Ƶ –1800 course undertook the research and writing, while the Graphic Design II class developed the exhibition Ƶ ’s visual language and way-finding system, enhancing the experience of the powerful work and artifacts. Students in the Typography and the Letterform class built the catalog, and digital photography students contributed striking photographic elements that elevate the artifacts displayed alongside works by Callot, Francisco Goya, Otto Dix, and Ernst Barlach.</p><p> Ƶ “Interdisciplinary thinking and collaboration lie at the very heart of a liberal arts education, and throughout the months of preparation leading up to the opening, this remarkable group of students embodied the very best of what can happen in the classroom Ƶ —when learning is guided and considered by openness, curiosity, and a touch of romance. To say I am proud of them would be an understatement, Ƶ ” said DelMarcelle.</p><p>Callot Ƶ ’s influence spans centuries, inspiring artists such as Goya, Dix, and Barlach to confront the same haunting questions about why humans go to war. This exhibition traces the lineage of protest through printed images, reminding viewers that in the darkest hours, the artist bears witness. The library is not only a cornerstone of the community, but it also shares a special connection with Wilson. Lou Cowles, a reference librarian with the Franklin County Library System, is a proud member of the Ƶ Class of 1964. Her support and involvement help to bring the two institutions together for this public showcase. &nbsp;</p><p> Ƶ “The opportunity helps students develop their artistic voices, and the show allows Wilson the opportunity to share creative, scholarly endeavours with our community, Ƶ ” said Philip Lindsey, professor of fine arts at Wilson. This free exhibition features works by student artists in Wilson Ƶ ’s Drawing I, Intro to Design, Digital Photography, and Graphic Design courses.</span></p><p><span> Ƶ “This is an opportunity for Wilson art and design students to share their scholarship, creativity, and artistic voices with the community. It is an incredibly empowering tool for our students to see their work in a public space outside the studio, Ƶ ” said Philip Lindsey, professor of fine arts at Wilson.&nbsp;</span></p><p><span>Louisa Cowles, a reference librarian with the Franklin County Library System, helped integrate the exhibition into the library space. As a Wilson alumna with a degree in fine arts, Cowles expressed intention to purchase one piece from this year Ƶ ’s display, and said Ƶ “It is so exciting to have the work of Wilson's artists here at Coyle Library.
