Join us for an evening of hymns, anthems, reflections, and readings to herald in the holiday season.

The Christmas Vespers service has been a ��Ƶ tradition for over one-hundred years, bringing together members of our community for an evening of hymns, anthems, reflections, and readings to herald in the holiday season. While it has taken varied forms over the past century, tonight ��Ƶ ’s service is inspired by King ��Ƶ ’s College ��Ƶ ’s historic Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols from 1918. ��Ƶ ��Ƶ ’s Christmas Vespers incorporates readings, anthems, and carols which speak across our divisions, remind us of our humanity, and inspire us to prepare our souls for the holiday season.

Wilson ��Ƶ ’s Christmas Vespers is free and open to the public. The service will also be live-streamed here: /vespers

The Invisible Islanders: Asserting Local Identity at the Sanctuary of Apollo on Delos

Delos, a small, unassuming island in the Cyclades, was famed across the ancient Greek world as the mythical birthplace of the god Apollo. By the sixth century BCE, it was home to a vibrant Panhellenic sanctuary that attracted visitors from across and even beyond the Greek world. It is this Panhellenic role that has drawn the attention of ancient writers and modern scholars alike, at the expense of the polis of Delos and the people who lived there. This talk looks at what we can recover about the Delians themselves, who they were and how they maintained a sense of local identity at a sanctuary whose prestige depended on its openness to Greeks from everywhere.

Using Evolutionary Computing to Explore Strategies in Tabletop Wargames

Computer science is very good at building "players" of games with no randomness, such as chess and checkers. However, the programming techniques that make a great computer chess player do not work as well when the results of a move depend on how dice fall. This presentation shows how evolutionary computing, a mix of computer science and biology, can be used to distinguish good and bad strategies in a game where every move is subject to chance.

Playing Comparative Politics: Teaching with Simulations

The result of Rossmiller's Drusilla Stevens Mazur Research Professorship, Playing Comparative Politics, is a collection of 12 simulations for teaching and learning about comparative politics. These simulations help students understand how political choices are shaped by interests, institutions, economics, and strategic interaction. Students build skills in cost-benefit analysis, negotiation and bargaining, coalition-building, securing commitments, and more, while applying core concepts to practical problems.

Dispatches from Earthwatch: Exploring the World as a Citizen Scientist
Thanks to the generous support of alumna Joan M. Thuebel '52, Wilson students have the opportunity to pursue education beyond the classroom through the Joan M. Thuebel '52 Earthwatch Prize. The award supports participation in Earthwatch research expeditions around the world, allowing students to submit proposals for the expedition of their choice and engage in uniquely hands-on learning experiences. At the Mercy of the Flies: A Poetry Reading

Matt McBride will read from his latest collection, At the Mercy of the Flies, released in April 2026. At the Mercy of the Flies renders the mundanity of daily life as a series of dislocations. What emerges is a record of survival written in the margins of collapse. Anchored in the author ��Ƶ ’s experiences with depression and the aftermath of the 2016 presidential election, the book charts the cartographies of a life and a nation in freefall. No party lasts forever, not even America.

This meeting is an opportunity for attendees to share feedback and learn more about the program during the candidacy review process conducted by the accrediting body.

How To Submit Comments

Individuals who wish to provide input about a program seeking candidacy or initial accreditation or about a CAA-accredited program seeking continued accreditation may do so in two ways:

Submit written comments prior to the accreditation site visit. All comments are due in the Accreditation Office no later than three (3) business days before the first day of the scheduled site visit. Comments received after this time will not be forwarded to the site visit team for consideration during the accreditation review, in accordance with the procedures specified in Chapter XII of the Accreditation Handbook. Comments may be submitted by:
- Email (accreditation@asha.org)
- Fax (301-296-8570), or
- Mailed to Accreditation Public Comment, Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA), 2200 Research Boulevard, #310, Rockville, MD 20850.
Provide comments to the site visit team during the program ��Ƶ ’s scheduled site visit, such as during the public meeting.

All comments must:

Relate to a program ��Ƶ ’s compliance with the current Standards for Accreditation
Identify the specific program seeking candidacy, initial accreditation, or continued accreditation with the CAA
All written testimony, including comments faxed or submitted as email attachments must include the commenter ��Ƶ ’s name, address, telephone contact information, and the commenter ��Ƶ ’s relationship to the program in order for Accreditation staff to verify the source of the testimony. All comments must be signed.

Comments that do not meet these requirements will not be considered, and the individual or group commenting will be notified.

The Standards for Accreditation and the CAA ��Ƶ ’s Public Comment policy and procedures are available in the Accreditation Handbook. These documents may also be obtained by sending a written request to the Accreditation Office. ��Ƶ is pleased to announce the opening of ��Ƶ “Life, Death, and Objects That Move Us: Three-Dimensional Art, ��Ƶ ” a new exhibition showcasing the work of five women artists whose practices span ceramics, enamel, metal, mixed media, and sculptural assemblage. The exhibition is on view through September 5, 2026, in the Sue Davison Cooley Gallery of the ��Ƶ John Stewart Memorial Library. Admission is free and open to the public.
