An exhibition featuring artwork by visual arts and graphic design faculty from ��Ƶ and Hagerstown Community College will open Wednesday, February 26, in Cooley Gallery, ��Ƶ. The show runs from February 26 to April 30, 2025. There will be a reception to open the exhibition on Wednesday, February 26 from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Admission to the exhibition is free.

This year ��Ƶ ’s exhibition will center on Wilson ��Ƶ ’s spring ArtsFest ��Ƶ ’25 theme, Shared Stories. ArtsFest is an annual celebration of the arts in our community, showcasing the remarkable art, artists, and artistic opportunities at Wilson. ArtsFest ��Ƶ ’25 will run from April 7 ��Ƶ – 11, 2025. As part of ArtsFest ��Ƶ ’25, our Cooley show will center on community Shared Stories through shared experiences, participation, practice, cooperation, collaboration, presence, and engagement. Artists will address the human experience, the stories of who we are, what we are, shared hopes, dreams, anxieties, perspectives, etc. As we all know, art is central to creating and reflecting community. For this show, artists were invited to reflect on and share collective stories & experiences, whatever those may be. Visitors can expect to see work in a variety of media, including drawing & painting, photography, design, sculpture, and more.

This exhibition features a body of work that Professor Philip Lindsey created during his sabbatical in the spring of 2024. The pieces selected for this particular show are only some of the art he made for his research project during that sabbatical, including paintings and charcoals, both single- and-mixed media.

This exhibition was collaboratively curated with Wilson ��Ƶ ’s MFA Students.

The exhibit will be on display from July 20, 2024 to January 31, 2025

Please join us Monday, February 14th from 11 a.m. -12 p.m. in ��Ƶ ��Ƶ ’s Cooley Gallery for the opening of Epidemic: An Exhibition by Dr. Eric Avery & Adam DelMarcelle. During the first half of the opening, visitors will have an opportunity to view the exhibition, and in the second half, they will be invited to participate in a Q&A with Visiting Assistant Professor of Graphic Design Adam DelMarcelle and Cooley Gallery Curator Joshua Legg in the Lenfest Learning Commons.

For printmakers, Dr. Eric Avery and Adam DelMarcelle, the work featured in this exhibition is a duty. It is a social action and commentary emerging from personal and professional experiences that the two artists are compelled to address in their creative practices. The content of this exhibition was developed in response to both America ��Ƶ ’s rapidly growing opioid epidemic and the (now) longstanding HIV/AIDS pandemic.

Tia Blassingame ��Ƶ — who was a guest artist at Wilson in 2012 ��Ƶ — is an African American book artist and printmaker exploring the intersection of race, history, and perception. She often incorporates archival research and her own poetry in her artist ��Ƶ ’s book projects for nuanced discussions of racism in the United States. While Ms. Blassingame will not be at this opening, she will be our June artist-in-residence, and will give a talk about her work when she is on campus.

Cooley Gallery (located on the second floor of the John Stewart Memorial Library) is open Mon ��Ƶ – Thur 8AM ��Ƶ – 11PM, Fri 8 AM ��Ƶ – 5 PM, Sat 9 AM ��Ƶ – 5 PM, and Sun 1 PM ��Ƶ – 11 PM.

An art exhibition celebrating the 150-year history of ��Ƶ ��Ƶ –created by Baltimore artist Jim Condron using college relics and artifacts ��Ƶ –opens Wednesday, Sept. 4, in the Wilson library's Sue Davison Cooley Gallery. The exhibition, You Never Wash it Off Completely, will run through Dec. 15.

Admission to the Cooley Gallery (www.wilson.edu/cooley-gallery) is free and open to the public. Hours are 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 11 p.m. Sunday.
